About me

About Me

I built my first company, Nasty Gal, from a vintage clothing eBay store into a business that generated over 100 million dollars in revenue. That journey taught me everything about entrepreneurship the hard way, through trial and error, failures and successes, and countless lessons that no traditional business school could have provided. I went from selling vintage clothes online to leading a team of hundreds and navigating the complexities of rapid growth, venture capital, and building a brand that resonated with millions.

After Nasty Gal, I founded Girlboss, a community and content platform designed to redefine success for a new generation of women in business. Through Girlboss, I created conferences, podcasts, and content that reached millions of ambitious individuals looking to take control of their careers and build something meaningful. I also wrote the New York Times bestselling book Girlboss, which became a cultural phenomenon and was later adapted into a Netflix series.

My approach to business has always been unconventional. I did not follow a traditional path, and I do not believe there is only one way to build something successful. I have learned that authenticity, resilience, and a willingness to take risks are far more valuable than any formal credential. I have experienced both incredible highs and devastating lows, and those experiences shaped my understanding of what it really takes to build and sustain a business.

Today, I focus on sharing the lessons I have learned with aspiring entrepreneurs who want to create businesses on their own terms. I believe in practical education over theory, in learning by doing rather than just studying, and in the power of community and shared experience. My work centers on empowering others to trust their instincts, embrace their unique perspectives, and build businesses that reflect their values and vision.
